Thank You Election Workers!

Citizen involvement is essential to conduct open, accurate, and fair elections in Wisconsin. Indeed, by state law we must have three poll workers/election inspectors (typically local residents from the municipality) present for voting to even happen! Working on election day fosters an appreciation for the democratic process and is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

The Village of Ridgeway is very fortunate to have a wonderful team of inspectors committed to helping every eligible resident cast a ballot and have that ballot counted. While this is true every year, this year presented a unique and challenging environment that our team of inspectors managed with their usual smiles.

Thank you pollworkers for your service this year – one of the busiest voter turnout years ever!

If you would like to join this amazing team you can find more information here, or contact your Elections Clerk. High School Students are also eligible to participate while learning about this important civic process!

Public Test of New Voting Equipment

We will have a public test of the new voting machine on October 29th at 4:00 pm. Please feel free to join us.

This election, we will be using paper ballots and feeding the ballots directly into an ICE Tabulator machine. This allows for easy and accurate tabulation of votes after the close of the polls. This is also an accessible machine – so if you need accommodations to cast your ballot, please let us know and we can help you.  Our goal is for all eligible voters to be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot count. The EDGE touchscreen voting machine will no longer be used.

You can view information about our new election machine here:

Cardinal Way Phase II Development Update

Contractors are installing underground utilities (sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer) in the second phase of the Cardinal Way Subdivision. Residents can expect construction traffic entering and leaving Main Street/County Hwy HHH from Tallman Court fairly regularly over the next few weeks. Gas and electric utilities will be installed for the ten new lots next week (end of September/early October).

Tallman Court will be extended to Cardinal Way with curb and gutter installed along the whole road towards the end of the construction project.

Construction is expected to be completed by November 13, 2020.

Ridgeway Elementary School Update

The Dodgeville School District Board of Education voted April 13, 2020 to permanently close the Ridgeway Elementary School at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. The Village of Ridgeway and Dodgeville School have both signed an agreement providing the Village the option to purchase the Ridgeway Elementary School building and property from the Dodgeville School District for $1. This agreement outlines timelines and contingencies of this potential purchase.

The large space of the former school offers ample opportunities for a community center, village hall, office space, library, and much more. The Village Plan Commission and Board of Trustees are utilizing a $5,000 grant award from Compeer Financial to assist with the completion of a Feasibility and Constructability Analysis for the adaptive reuse of the former Ridgeway Elementary School by the Village.

Strang Engineering has been selected to complete this study. Workshops will be held by them with various stakeholders and reports given to the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee consists of the Plan Commission and the Board of Trustees. Mitch Branscombe and Larry Burton of Strang Engineering will begin this study the week of September 21st, with three workshops to be held the subsequent weeks with a final presentation of the study results on October 12th.

The Village Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, October 13th to discuss the future of the village’s purchase of the property at that time.
